CHANGE YOUR THOUGHTS, CHANGE YOUR LIFE
By Rebecca Conran CHHC
Eclipse season was no joke; I lost my beloved animal, the world lost artists from across many genres, there were wildfires, droughts, and the horrendous and fatal landslides in Nepal. It is clear that we are in the middle of existential crisis, but the thing we each need to tune into is that while it’s global and collective, it begins with what is personal to us. There is individual work we must do to guide our connection with the collective, to guide our energy and purpose. If we forget this work, if we go along with what is happening to us rather than considering it is happening THROUGH us, then we miss an opportunity to evolve, grow, change, and participate in the answers.
Mercury features heavily this month, which is appropriate for the Virgo seasonal energy we begin September with. If you want to change your life, begin by changing your mind. Your thoughts and emotions are central to your experience as a human being, and all of the magical experiences to be called in but also repeat patterns can be followed back to your own ideas and inner life. There is a call to action here to be conscious of your own thoughts, dialogue, and mind so that you can become the master of choice regarding it and not be mastered by your subconscious. Rewiring your mind is the hardest but most rewarding work we can do, so you can be damn sure it’s appropriate to be paying attention to the mercury energy.
Tues, Sept 1: Mars square Saturn, Mercury sextile Mars
September opens with that familiar tension that 2026 has been rife with, between wanting to move and being told to wait. Mars square Saturn can feel like pushing against a locked door, bringing frustration, delays, or the sense that everything is harder than it should be. But this is also a useful aspect for recognizing where discipline is needed, rather than simply pushing harder. Mercury sextile Mars gives us a way through: say the thing, make the decision, have the conversation, and put the thought into motion. There is courage available here, but it works best when we stop fighting the resistance and start listening to what it is trying to teach us.
Thurs, Sept 10: Venus enters Scorpio, Mercury enters Libra, Uranus stations RX
There is a definite change of atmosphere as Venus moves into Scorpio and Mercury enters Libra. We go deeper emotionally while becoming more conscious of how we relate, communicate, and negotiate with other people. Venus in Scorpio doesn't really do superficial; it wants honesty, intimacy, and the truth beneath the truth. Mercury in Libra, meanwhile, wants to find the middle ground, to understand another perspective and to restore balance where things have become uneven. However, the other side of Libra is both gossip and people-pleasing. Libra can be extremely superficial in its shadow. Use this energy to be compassionate and fair, but not fake. With Uranus stationing retrograde, you may suddenly feel the uncertainty of change in the air. Don't rush to resolve it. Trust in your intentions that you’ve set; what you’ve put into motion can only come true if you allow yourself to experience the inevitability of your path and dive deep to adjust your own motivations and inner experience to become receptive to it.
Fri, Sept 11: New Moon Virgo 19°
This New Moon is the work of putting things in order, refining what isn't working, and becoming more intentional about the life we're actually building. Are you of service to the feeling, creating, and being sides of your personality? If not, Virgo can help you make adjustments. Learn to serve the feminine parts of your personality too, not just the achieving and purposeful masculine parts. Virgo reminds us that devotion lives in the details: the habits, choices, boundaries, and small acts of care that compound over time. This New Moon asks us to get honest about what needs adjusting: what has become inefficient and unhealthy? What have you outgrown?
Sat, Sept 12: Mercury trine Pluto, Mercury opposite Neptune
Today we will surely venture beneath the surface! Mercury trine Pluto gives extraordinary depth of perception; we can see patterns, read between the lines, and finally name something we've been circling for a while. But Mercury opposite Neptune can make the waters murky at the same time. Intuition may be strong, but so can projection, wishful thinking, and misunderstanding. Trust your instincts, but give them time to meet reality. Listen closely, ask better questions, and don't make a permanent decision based on temporary feelings.
Mon, Sept 14: Mercury trine Uranus
The mind gets a jolt when Mercury trines Uranus, bringing flashes of insight, unexpected information, and "Aha!" moments. This is brilliant energy for changing your mind, trying a different approach or allowing yourself to think outside of any boxes you're trapped in. Uranus's main objective is to revolutionize. Pay attention to the thought that arrives out of nowhere, the conversation that changes your perspective, or the possibility you hadn't previously considered. Stop insisting on solving the problem in the same way as before. There is power today in admitting that we may not know what we are doing!
Fri, Sept 18: Chiron RX re-enters Aries, Mercury opposite Saturn
Chiron returning retrograde into Aries brings us back to those same-old questions around identity, courage, and the right to exist fully as ourselves that we’ve been processing for the last couple of years. Something we thought we'd worked through is resurfacing, but that doesn't mean we've gone backwards. Sometimes healing asks us to revisit the original wound from a more resourced place. These are tough degrees; expect to see people more aggravated, war may flare up, and projection will be at a high. Mercury opposite Saturn can make communication feel heavy or expose where we've been silencing ourselves out of fear. Maturity means knowing when to say nothing and times when it means finally saying what needs to be said.
Mon, Sept 21: Mercury sextile Jupiter
Mercury sextile Jupiter brings some welcome perspective. After the intensity of the previous days, there is more mental expansiveness and a willingness to see the bigger picture. This is good energy for learning, writing, traveling, teaching, and making plans based on possibility rather than fear. Jupiter doesn't promise that everything will work out exactly as imagined, but it does remind us that there are usually more options available than we can see when we're standing too close to the situation.
Wed, Sept 23: Autumn Equinox, Sun enters Libra
The Equinox marks equal light and dark in the day, one season giving itself over to another. This moment of the year asks us to take stock. What has served its purpose and will become part of the decay that nourishes the soil for the future? We must let go now. When the Sun enters Libra, our attention naturally turns towards relationships, reciprocity, beauty, and balance. But the lessons of Libra come from noticing where things have become unequal, where we are over-giving or over-pleasing, or where harmony has been falsely created through self-abandonment.
Sat, Sept 26: Full Harvest Moon Aries 4°, Sun trine Pluto, Sun opposite Neptune
Today’s energy has a raw and immediate quality to it. Something within our psyche and emotional body wants to be acknowledged, typically around independence, our desires, and the parts of ourselves that have been waiting for permission (or ignition) to act. With the addition of the Sun trining Pluto today, there is real power available for transformation, while the opposition to Neptune asks us to distinguish between what we want and what we have imagined we want. Full Moons illuminate, and sometimes what they show us is not fun or convenient, but the clarity is a gift.
Sun, Sept 27: Mars square Chiron
Mars square Chiron will poke at tender places, particularly around our anger and frustration, how we take action (or fear it), and the fear that we aren't strong enough, good enough, or capable enough. Today we may find ourselves reacting more quickly than usual, especially where an old wound has been touched. But this is where the work is; let your sensory body tune into the pain and feelings arising. Help yourself to feel your own safety, even though you may be feeling intensely triggered.
Mon, Sept 28: Sun trine Uranus, Mars enters Leo
As the Sun trines Uranus and Mars enters Leo, there is more of an appetite for freedom, especially of expression and creativity, along with our willingness to put ourselves out there and to take up space. Mars in Leo wants to create, perform, lead, and be seen, but its deeper lesson is about doing something because it makes your heart feel alive rather than because it earns external approval. The Sun-Uranus trine supports the same impulse towards liberation. Break the pattern. Try something new. Let yourself be surprised by what happens when you stop editing yourself for an audience.
Wed, Sept 30: Mercury opposite Chiron, Mercury enters Scorpio
September closes with Mercury opposite Chiron before Mercury enters Scorpio, bringing us back to words, wounds, and the truths we sometimes find hardest to articulate. A conversation may touch a nerve, or we may suddenly understand why something has been bothering us more deeply than we realized. Mercury in Scorpio wants to know what is really going on, especially when the answer is uncomfortable. There is healing in that honesty. We don't need to expose everything, explain everything, or fix everything. But we do need to stop lying to ourselves.
This month may leave us feeling quite picked apart and raw, as the shadow side to Virgo season comes out as too much criticism and not enough encouragement. I don’t know about you, but I’ve experienced many seasons of darkness, where I didn’t know how my life would turn out or if I’d be okay. And yet here I am, and I was okay, and the tide turned. Put one foot in front of the other and be laser focused on what you have control of in your current circumstances, like your health and daily rituals. When in doubt, close your eyes and think of your incredible body, breathing and living without you needing to control it. The expansiveness of the universe only needs you to take very good compassionate care of yourself, not to be in control of all of lifes circumstances.
