UNVARNISHED AND UNAFRAID

April arrives with us stripped bare. With Mars and Mercury entering Aries and joining Saturn and Neptune in a concentrated blaze, the atmosphere is direct, unapologetic, and piercing. There are no retrograde planets to soften or obscure the forward thrust; everything moves, everything declares itself. Uranus stands at the final degree of Taurus until month’s end, distilling years of upheaval into a potent exhale before shifting into Gemini. What has been building beneath the surface now seeks articulation, movement, and release.
The degrees to be aware of this month: Aries 3 and 8 and Taurus's final degree.
The early Aries degrees speak in extremes. At Aries, the 3rd degree, the symbol of the Great Pyramid’s outer casing being removed reflects a profound stripping away. Nothing decorative remains, only the mysterious and sacred inner chamber. With this energy there is a compulsion towards honesty (although ‘honesty’ is subjective to the speaker) that borders on the ruthless as the collective refuses to hide behind politeness or illusion. This is a real jackhammer moment, where we are breaking through all veneers. With Aries at the 8th degree, the tone shifts into theater; the symbol is a lizard adorned in blue satin, playing roles with dazzling detachment. Here, we oscillate between absolute truth and absolute artifice, between exposure and disguise. Here we discover how easily reality can be shaped, bent and pretended.
Meanwhile, Taurus at the anaretic degree holds a different gravity. Snakes resting in the sun evokes a deep retrospection. There is a sense of having lived through countless cycles, with the weight of experience pressing persistently on the present. The question becomes whether one can affirm the journey, fully, warts and all—or whether the past becomes something to reject. This moment asks for a quiet reckoning with time and with one’s place within its unfolding.
The Full Moon in Libra on April 2 opens a communal chamber of feeling. Like bodies gathered in a steam bath, there is a shared vulnerability; the moment calls for a willingness to sit in discomfort together and allow something to shift. Healing comes not through isolation but through participation—through recognizing oneself in others’ struggles and transformations. Yet there is a caution here: do not become attached to the process itself, but let it serve as a passage toward genuine freedom and renewal.
As Mars enters Aries on April 9, the tempo accelerates. Action, if focused, can lead to a real new beginning now. Unchecked or unconscious action leads to all things war and conflict. By April 13, Mars’s conjunction with Neptune in Aries, at the 3rd degree, intensifies the earlier theme of raw truth. Are we being visionary? Or are the lines blurred between clarity and illusion? Only a practice of discernment will ground you in a higher truth. Mid-month brings a powerful clustering: Mercury enters Aries on April 15, amplifying thought, speech, and, over the next few days, emotional immediacy. Whatever is felt feels fiery; words can burn now. The Sun’s conjunction with Chiron on April 16 exposes tender places, inviting both wound and remedy into conscious awareness.
April 17 marks a pivotal turning point. Mercury conjuncts Neptune; again, we find ourselves at Aries' 3rd degree, while the New Moon Aries at 28 degrees, also conjunct Chiron, opens a doorway into a larger, almost mythic sense of purpose. The symbolic image of the degree, a laurel wreath placed upon an old man, speaks to an enduring awareness of destiny—of being seen, guided, and accompanied by something greater throughout one’s journey. There is a quiet assurance here, a knowing that every step, even the mistakes, participates in a larger divine destiny.
By April 19 and 20, Mars and Mercury conjunct Saturn at 8 degrees Aries, grounding the earlier volatility into form, discipline, and consequence. What began the month as impulse now demands structure. Then, in comes some much-needed grounding and earthly energy. The Sun’s entry into Taurus steadies the field, inviting embodiment and integration.
The final big-ticket event of the month, however, which we feel as an undercurrent with the final degree of Taurus being felt all month long, comes on April 27, when Uranus moves into Gemini, signaling a shift from material and resource system disruption to intellectual and communicative awakening. The mind quickens, the air stirs, and a new cycle of curiosity begins. We first felt this energy during the first ingress on July 7, 2025; however, we retrograded back into Taurus on November 7, 2025. Now Uranus shifts for good.
Uranus into Gemini is a radical recalibration of the collective mental field. Uranus, the awakener, disrupts in order to liberate, and in Gemini, that liberation moves through thought, language, and perception itself. Expect intuitive surges, sudden clarity, and entirely new frameworks of understanding, personal “downloads” that feel both electric and undeniable. This transit, extending through 2033, signals a generational rewrite of how we think, communicate, learn, and connect. Our nervous systems, media landscapes, and information channels are all undergoing a profound reconfiguration. Yet with this influx comes a crucial reminder: more information does not equal more truth. Discernment, as I’ve been mentioning this year, becomes the essential skill in an age already saturated with illusion and noise.
Where change has been avoided, Uranus applies pressure; where growth has been personal but not collective, the wider systems begin to shift. In Gemini’s domain, this points toward sweeping changes in education, technology, transportation, and the ways information is exchanged. Artificial intelligence, decentralized media, and grassroots communication networks are likely to surge, even as misinformation and cognitive overload test our clarity. The lesson is sharp and uncompromising: information alone holds no power without the ability to interpret it wisely.
At its core, this is a spiritual revolution of the mind. Uranus in Gemini asks for a fearless questioning of inherited beliefs from awakened curiosity. Many will begin to see how deeply conditioned their thinking has been, shaped by culture, media, and survival patterns. This transit invites a clearing of that mental residue and a return to inner knowing, along with a reclamation of authentic voice. The highest expression here is conscious liberation: the ability to think independently, speak truthfully, and engage in meaningful exchange. When grounded, and we will need a lot of grounding! This energy produces visionaries and bridge-builders; when ungrounded, it risks further burnout and mental exhaustion. The task is to question, refine, and ultimately reshape ideas from a place of clarity and integrity.
This is a month of feeling exposed and of truths laid bare. It asks for courage to remain open to the strange, unfolding spiritual intelligence that carries you forward.
